A radio station that began with a 10w transmitter and a “big dream” is marking two decades since its first trial broadcast, after growing from a trial service into full-time FM radio.DevonAir Radio is celebrating 20 years since Bay FM took to the air in Exmouth for its first trial broadcast on Monday, September 11, 2006.The initial broadcast used a small 10w transmitter, before Andy and Julie Green spent seven years working to secure a full-time FM licence.The pair faced applications, setbacks and numerous challenges before their ambition became reality in 2013, when the station launched full-time on 106.4FM.Bay FM later became DevonAir Radio, with the station serving communities across East Devon and Exeter.Its history has included thousands of hours on air as well as songs, interviews, competitions, outside broadcasts and other memorable moments.Andy and Julie Green and the DevonAir Radio team said: “THANK YOU.“To everyone who has listened, presented, volunteered, advertised, sponsored, supported and believed in the station – thank you for being part of the story.“And there’s plenty more to come.”
